The connection between a StorageServer(s) and a MirrorServer is secured with either the Storage Platform master password or a specially created Mirror Account.
Using the master password is not always ideal, e.g. if more than one StorageServer is connecting to the same MirrorServer. In such cases, you can create a Mirror Account with a password that is different from the administrator password.
Note: When mirroring via a Mirror Account, the MirrorServer certificate is not updated automatically and needs to be manually updated. To manually update the MirrorServer certificate, copy the .p12 (Personal Information Exchange) file from the StorageServer’s SS_Service folder (default location C:\ProgramData\Attix5 Pro\SS_Service) to the MirrorServer’s SS_Service folder. If the MirrorServer is managed by a third party that provides mirroring for multiple customers, certificates should be managed by the third party.
To create a Mirror Account:
- In the Console's Storage Platform Configuration tree, click on the appropriate server name, then right-click and select Configure.
- In the dialog box that appears, go to the MirrorFrom tab. Make sure Mirror Acccounts is enabled. In the Authorised Sources workspace, click Add.
- In the dialog box that appears, enter an Account name and password, then click OK.
- This account will now be listed in the workspace. Click OK again to close the dialog box.
The Mirror Account now exists on the MirrorServer. Next, you need to configure the StorageServer(s) that will be mirroring to this MirrorServer to use the Mirror Account you just created.
To configure a StorageServer to use a Mirror Account:
- In the Console's Storage Platform Configuration tree, click on the appropriate server name, then right-click and select Configure.
- In the dialog box that appears, go to the MirrorTo tab. Select Use Mirror Account details, then enter the details you specified when you created the Mirror Account. Click OK.
The StorageServer and MirrorServer have now been configured to use a Mirror Account to perform mirroring. To start mirroring, click on the appropriate StorageServer name, then right-click and select Start Mirror.
