Group types exist to identify the "child" companies of a specific partner and the specific products that a partner or their customer has subscribed to or otherwise needs access to. Group types also ensure that data is aggregated on the relevant levels only.
To assist in the meaningful structuring of collections and groups, you can tag these by type in the Storage Platform Console by using right-click > Set Group Type.

The group types menu is visible to all users who have permission to edit group/collection settings, i.e. any collection/storage admin or non-admin with the user permission group.UpdateSettings.
Users will see the following options:
Group type | Icon colour | Description |
Company | Turquoise | A collection for a reseller's customer (will have Base Product groups under it) |
Base Product | Purple | A collection for a service category, such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Machines |
Please note: Base product groups (with the exception of machines) should not be set manually. New cloud collections created on the RedApp or via the AppDirect Marketplace will automatically be assigned the correct group type.
