Two predefined roles are included in the Console:
- Group Admin: admin access to a Group/s, the Activity area and Enterprise Reports (if installed)
- View Only: view access only to all Accounts in a Group
How to create a new role
1. Open the Console in the User Access Management view, right-click the Roles node, then click New Role.
2. In the dialog box that appears, create a name and optional description for the new role.
Under Rights, indicate the rights you want this role to have by ticking the appropriate boxes. To display additional rights, click Show Advanced Rights. These rights (marked in red) are not used by the Console and are only available for advanced users to use as XML calls to the Storage Platform.
3. In the Navigation Pane tab, select the views you want this role to have.
4. Click OK. The new role will be added to the Roles list in the Console workspace.
How to configure a role
1. Open the Console in the User Access Management view, click the Roles node.
2. From the list in the workspace, right-click the relevant role's name and click Configure.
3. In the dialog box that appears, modify/configure the role as desired, then click OK.
How to view the rights allocated to a role
1. Open the Console in the User Access Management view, click the Roles node.
2. From the list in the workspace, right-click the relevant role's name and click Configure.
3. In the dialog box that appears, all rights allocated to the role are displayed under Rights.
How to copy a role for use as a template for additional roles
1. Open the Console in the User Access Management view, click the Roles node.
2. From the list in the workspace, right-click the relevant role's name in the work area and then click Copy Role.
3. In the dialog box that appears, create a unique name for the copied role and click OK. A copy of the original role will be saved with the new name and included in the Roles list in the workspace.
How to delete a role
1. Open the Console in the User Access Management view, click the Roles node.
2. From the list in the workspace, right-click the relevant role's name in the work area and then click Delete Role.
3. In the dialog box that appears, click Yes.
