To change the location of the working folder:
- Open the ESE Agent and go to Tools > Options > Advanced.
- Under Working Folder, click Change and select a new location.
To configure the cache:
- Open the ESE Agent and go to Tools > Options > Advanced.
- Under Working Folder, select one of the options for Cache Indexes and click OK.
The cache keeps a local, compressed and encrypted, copy of the selected files for a specified number of days. The more days retained in the cache, the better the chances are that patches instead of full files will be sent during backup.
Retaining the default selection (until rolled up) makes for faster browsing when it comes to file-level restores, but if you need to clear space, the alternative of accessed within the last [x] days can be selected. We do not advise selecting less than 7 days.
Note: Specifying a cache retention of 0 will result in patching being disabled. This is not recommended.
If you change the cache retention from the default to a number of days, the excess indexes will be cleared on the next backup.
