In order to assist you in troubleshooting, the Redstor Support team may need to see the logs from the relevant Data Management Agent or Storage Platform Console. This article lists the default locations where you can find these logs.
Note: Logs have no effect on your data recovery options. Logs are retained unless they are deleted, which means the log locations below may contain logs from much further back than you will be able to restore from. Read more on retention settings in Article 106.

Types of logs
Backup logs
Each task that runs will create its own log, which is also recorded in the Agent's Logs tab. The log files are named with a YYYYMMDDHHMMSS timestamp and the extension .log (or .txt if you have associated them with a text editor like Notepad).
Do not confuse these with the .mlog files, which we will almost never request.
Backupservice logs
Backupservice logs (named backupservice.txt or backupservice.log) are classified by age with a numbered extension (e.g. backupservice.txt.1). The numbers run from no number to 9, with no number indicating the most recent log and 9 the least recent log. Logs sorted from most to least recent will therefore look like this:
backupservice.txt
backupservice.txt.1
backupservice.txt.2
...
backupservice.txt.9
The most recent log (with no numbered extension) is the one our Support team will almost always want to see.
Please note that because of the numbered extensions, the older logs will not be classified as having a .log or .txt file type. If we request all the backupservice logs, please sort by file name (not file type) to find all of them easily.
