Note: This article applies to the Storage Platform API and not the RedAPI. You can find our RedApp API documentation here.
A mechanism exists that will prevent certain activities on a StorageServer from filling up disk space once a threshold has been reached.
The limit is determined by the StorageVolumeMinFreeSpaceGB setting.
Viewing the setting
The setting StorageVolumeMinFreeSpaceGB can be viewed using the Storage Platform API:
https://<accountserver>/api/system/settings
(A default value of 1GB is used)
Changing the setting
To set a different value (to 5GB for example), also use the API URL:
https://<accountserver>/api/system/settings?StorageVolumeMinFreeSpaceGB=5
Storage Platform tasks affected
Tasks that will be aborted/prevented from running include those that create and update data:
- All backup, including snapshot backup
- Mirror receive
- Move receive
- Roll-up
- HSM
- Account conversion
- BriefCase save new files
- ManageSmallfiles
- SpeedTest
Tasks that are still allowed even when the threshold has been reached are those that only read or remove data:
- Purge Partial Backup
- Backup Finalise
- MirrorSyncIndex
- MirrorSyncData
- MoveSend
- Delete
- All Restores except RestoreLocal and SnapshotExport to the same volume as the data volume
- Briefcase Read and delete
- Search
- SpeedTest
- Send FootPrintCache
- Gen3 HSM except to the same volume as the data volume
- Integrity Check
- AttachAccount
- CleanupSIS
