Follow the steps below to configure email notifications to be sent after certain events in the ESE Agent.
1. In the Agent, click the Options button on the toolbar and go to Email Notifications in the sidebar.
2. Select the desired options under Notifications and Notification Preferences. You can choose to receive notifications for all backups and restores that complete, or for only those that fail or complete with errors or warnings.
3. Under Message Settings:
- Add the relevant recipient/s (separated by semicolons) in the To field.
- Add the relevant sender (from your own domain) in the From field.
- Add a suitable subject.
- Specify if any attachments should be added.
4. Enter your SMTP server details or select from one of the settings as indicated below.
Note: If you are using SMTP2GO, you may need to run the Redstor Pro ESE service as an administrator instead of a system user. Stop the service first, change the user, then restart the service and set up the notifications. If you run the service as a system user, the notifications may not work even though a test shows to be successful.

5. If you wish to encrypt the connection, enable Encrypt Connection (STARTTLS) and set the required TLS version. Note that for Microsoft 365, TLS 1.2 is supported. This is also configurable via Profiling in the Storage Platform Console.
6. If the SMTP requires authentication, enter the Username and Password of the account you'll be connecting with.
Note: While it is possible for advanced users to make changes to the email notifications configuration by editing the a5backup.properties file, this is not possible with SMTPs that require authentication. In such cases, all changes must be made through the user interface as described here, or through remote access.
7. Test the SMTP connection by clicking the Test button.
