Release Notes: Redstor Pro v19.10

Enterprise Server Edition

1. When rehydrating stubs, the Agent will now continuously monitor the free disk space, and abort when a default threshold of 1GB is reached. To see how to change this threshold or disable the feature, click here.
2. The Automate button on the toolbar is now the Schedule button.

   
3. A menu item and shortcut have been added for InstantData (also accessible through Alt+F > Alt+I).
   
4. VSS-related warning and error messages now include more information to assist you in resolving issues.
   • Messages will contain both the Windows ID and the Redstor internal ID.
     
5. Additional Insight improvements:
   • Scan tasks will be run in the background from now on to enable users to perform backup or restore tasks at the same time.
   • To see progress while a scan is running, hover over the notification at the bottom right of your screen. This will open the Background Tasks dialog.
   • In this dialog there is also the option to cancel the scan.
     
   • We no longer take VSS snapshots, eliminating VSS-related errors and allowing for the support of previously unsupported volumes like clusters.
6. Important notice: To allow us to implement valuable customer feedback, we will be suspending support for Oracle RMAN until further notice.

Control Centre (available for preview)

1. We have improved the Control Centre's styling, tooltips, loader icon, and drag-and-drop gestures.
2. New to the Control Centre? When you log in for the first time, you will see a welcome screen and have the option to take a tour.
   
3. We now provide more detail and suggest actions when a Group or Collection has no information to offer yet.
   
4. Options can now be found in a single, expandable menu.
   

5. The Add Group/Collection and Add Account dialogs have been replaced with side navigation panes.
   

Storage Platform

1. The Convert to ESE format option is now disabled when an Account is already in ESE format.
   

InstantData

1. Bare Metal Recovery is even easier than before, with a built-in prompt that will point out if any of the required parameters are missing from the command-line. Read more in our guide.
   
2. We now deduplicate Full System Recoveries.

   • If a backup contains multiple copies of the same file, only a single copy will be downloaded.
   • The file will then be duplicated locally to the various locations, as opposed to downloading a separate file for each location from the Storage Platform.
