The Mobile Application for Android and iOS smartphones and tablets allows for files in the portal to be marked as "favourites". This action caches these files locally on the device in a hidden, encrypted folder and allows for faster access to commonly used content. Such favourites are also synchronised with the portal to keep them current.
In the event of the loss or theft of the device, a user with the Administrator role and specific permission, can initiate a Remote Wipe on the device. Once activated a Remote Wipe will clear the device of all cached content, that is remove all favourites, and disconnect the device from the portal. The administrator initiating the Remote Wipe will receive an e-mail confirmation once the task is complete.
To access the Remote Wipe feature, navigate to the Device Manager by selecting the Administration tab then Main->Devices from the menus on the left-hand pane. Next select the appropriate mobile device from the table of devices on the right-hand pane and click on the "Edit Device" button of the Devices tool bar. A pop-up window reveals this device's specific information and also displays the "Remote Wipe" button.
Select the "Remote Wipe" button. A further pop-up will warn that the erase cannot be stopped once initiated. Tick the box to acknowledge the warning then select the "Erase All Data" button to continue.
The device details pop-up will now update to show that the "Remote Wipe" request has been sent and that e-mail confirmation will be received when the action completes. A timer also commences recording the time since the action was initiated.
