Use case: User Interface (browser)
If a customer wants to connect to their virtual portal via the User Interface through a supported web browser, then they must allow a connection from the device on TCP ports 80 and 443 (outbound) through their network to the relevant portal IP address. [Please contact Redstor support for IP address details.]
Use case: Active Directory integration
If a customer wants to integrate their portal with Active Directory for ease of user management then they must allow the Redstor hosted portal to connect into their network to designated Domain Controllers on TCP port 389 (inbound) . This is a read-only query. Additionally TCP port 3268 (inbound) may also be required to access the Global Catalog Server.
Customers should be aware that the default mechanism for achieving AD integration, an LDAP Simple BIND query, transfers credentials in plain text and is insecure. To achieve robust AD integration the customer needs to consider enabling LDAP over SSL for Windows. [Please contact Redstor support for specific details.]
LDAP over SSL requires TCP port 636 (inbound) and TCP port 3269 (inbound)
Use case: Workstation or Server Agent
When a customer installs the device agent on a supported Operating System for the expressed purpose of synchronising files between their virtual portal and the device, then they must allow a connection from the device on TCP port 995 (outbound) through their network to the relevant portal IP address. [Please contact Redstor support for IP address details.]
