In certain scenarios it may be recommended to increase the number of synchronization threads in use by the backup client. By default the backup client will use 1 synchronization thread. In some scenarios upload speeds (using one thread) are lower than expected which can result in slower backups. Please note there there are many factors which can lead to slower backups and diagnosis of the issue is recommended before making such changes.
How To Increase The Number of Synchronization Threads
- Stop the "redstor online backup plus service controller"
- Locate the config.ini (Program files\Redstor Online Backup Plus) and add the line SynchronizationThreadCount=N (where N is number of concurrent threads). We recommend using a setting of 4 when first applying this setting. It can be increased further at a later time having observed the initial changes.
- Save the config.ini, close the file and then start the "backup plus service controller".
- Test backup performance.
