When a backup is attempted with the Backup Pro Server Edition and Desktop Laptop Edition (SE/DL), the backup does not complete successfully and the following error message is received in the backup log:
readText received incomplete message
A Microsoft security update MS16-065 for vulnerability CVE-2016-0149 which is installed for Microsoft .NET is preventing communication between SE/DL Backup Clients and the Backup Pro Storage Platform.
In addition, the security update causes the following:
- Network connection issues with the AccountServer (AS) – StorageServer (SS) certificate exchange (see Article 791).
- The WebAccess module is not able to communicate with the Storage Platform. If it is essential to continue using WebAccess, the security update can be disabled. See the temporary solution below.
A temporary solution allows you to disable the security update:
- Download the RedstorManualOptOutSchSendAuxRecord40.zip file and install the .reg file therein on the AccountServer.
- Restart the AccountServer.
Note: If you are able to upgrade your Storage Platform, we recommend the permanent solution below which supersedes the temporary solution.
